Mandatory CME Tracking Requirements Begin September 1, 2026

Beginning September 1, 2026, Texas law will require all licensed health care practitioners to have their continuing education (CE) compliance verified through a centralized tracking system. The Texas Medical Board (TMB) will use CE Broker as the official platform for tracking and reporting CME.

What This Means for License Renewal

Licensees renewing on or after September 1, 2026, must meet the following requirements:

  • Maintain an active CE Broker Basic account
  • Ensure all completed CE coursework is accurately reported in CE Broker

If CME compliance cannot be verified through CE Broker at the time of renewal, the license will not be eligible for renewal.

Why Act Now

Although the requirement does not take effect until September 1, 2026, early setup is strongly encouraged. Creating an account now allows time to become familiar with the platform and avoid delays during the transition.

Benefits of Early Adoption

  • Learn the CE Broker system and features in advance
  • Organize CE records in one secure location
  • Avoid last-minute compliance issues during renewal

Additional Information and Support

The Texas Medical Board will provide ongoing guidance, including renewal notices, direct communications, and informational webinars hosted in partnership with CE Broker. These resources are designed to help licensees understand requirements and prepare for the transition.

Establishing and maintaining a CE Broker Basic account is free for all licensees.
