MEET YOUR NEW TOMA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - David H. Reynolds

In addition to his time with the TMA, David served as Senior Manager for State Governmental Relations, American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) in their Washington, DC office. He managed the AAFP’s annual advocacy training program, analyzed state and federal health care legislative and policy trends impacting family physicians’ practices. His key activities include: liaison to the AAFP’s constituent chapters and national healthcare associations on state legislative and regulatory matters.
In 2001, David served as Health Policy Analyst, Director; Senate Nominations Committee in 2001 for Office of State Senator Jane Nelson. In this role, he initiated, facilitated and negotiated the passage of the Senator’s health care legislation, and supported constituent relations projects. David also led staff for the Senate’s Gubernatorial Nomination approval process. His major legislative accomplishments include: passage of medical privacy, mandating physical activity for school children, and providing civil immunity for lay users of automated external defibrillators.Additional experience includes, Associate Director, Public Affairs and Communications for the American Heart Association, Texas Affiliate and Legislative Aide; Assistant PAC Director of Texas Academy of Family Physicians.
David earned his BA degree in Political Science from Texas Tech University, making both the President's and Dean's List. He is married to Lizzette Gonzales Reynolds and together they have three children.
TOMA is excited to have David with us and we look forward to a long and productive partnership. TOMA also bids Director Emeritus, Sam Tessen a fond farewell as he joins his wife, Gail, in retirement. Sam is looking forward to spending more time with his family including his grandchildren.
