D.O.M.E. DAY RECAP

Last week, TOMA members congregated in Austin for TOMA's Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine Excellence (D.O.M.E.) Day at the Capitol. This important event is held every two year's during the Texas Legislative Session and affords members the opportunity to educate legislators and staffers about the osteopathic profession and issues that matter most to you and your patients. In addition, physicians and residents walked the Capitol hallways, sat in on hearings, and observed policy in the making.

TOMA's 2023 Legislative Priorities include:

  • Protect Scope of Practice
  • Grow the Physician Workforce in Texas
  • Increase Access and Affordability
  • Preserve Medical Liability Protections
  • Support Payment Parity for Telemedicine
  • Increase Public Health Awareness

Scope of practice remains one of TOMA's TOP PRIORITY'S despite being divisive and challenging. TOMA members educated lawmakers on the importance of the physician-led, team-based model of care. They also stressed the need for protecting independent medical diagnosing, treatment, and prescribing as the practice of medicine.
