Year 2000 Immunization Guidelines Released
A new immunization schedule has been issued by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). This schedule should be implemented in WIC clinics and all public health clinics.
Several significant changes have been made since the publication of the 1999 immunization schedule. These changes include:
- Removal of rotavirus vaccine from the schedule,
- Inactivated polio vaccine is recommended for all four doses,
- Hepatitis A vaccine is added to the schedule for all selected states and geographical areas.
